West Chop Light

West Chop Light

Massachusetts

Perched on the northern tip of Martha’s Vineyard in Tisbury, Massachusetts, West Chop Light has guided mariners through Vineyard Sound since 1891. This 45-foot white conical tower replaced an earlier wooden structure and remains an active aid to navigation maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard.

The lighthouse is notable for its picturesque setting amid the affluent West Chop neighborhood, with sweeping views of the harbor and passing ferries. While the grounds are not open to the public, visitors can admire and photograph the lighthouse from the road.

Best for photography: Golden hour, especially summer sunsets.

Nearby attractions: Vineyard Haven shops, Owen Park Beach, and the Martha’s Vineyard ferry terminal.
