Hooper Strait Light is a historic screw-pile lighthouse built in 1867, originally stationed in the Hooper Strait of the Chesapeake Bay. In 1966, the lighthouse was relocated to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in Saint Michaels, Maryland, where it stands today as one of the few surviving screw-pile lighthouses on the Bay. No longer an active aid to navigation, the lighthouse is not open to public climbing but can be admired up close within the museum grounds. Golden hour provides the best photography, with warm light reflecting off the water. Nearby, visitors can explore the charming shops and restaurants of Saint Michaels, take a harbor cruise, or visit the historic downtown waterfront.
