Greenbury Point Shoal Light(Second)

Built in 1892, Greenbury Point Shoal Light (Second) marked the dangerous shoals near the mouth of the Severn River where it meets the Chesapeake Bay. This caisson-style lighthouse replaced an earlier structure and guided mariners safely past the shallow waters surrounding Greenbury Point for decades. Now deactivated, the light stands as a quiet sentinel in Annapolis Harbor. The lighthouse is not open to the public and cannot be climbed, but it remains a striking subject for photographers — golden hour and early morning light from the Annapolis waterfront offer the best shots. Nearby, visitors can explore the U.S. Naval Academy, historic downtown Annapolis, and the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. Boat tours provide closer views.
