Clopper’s Bar Light

Built in 1854 at Morgan’s Point, Texas, Clopper’s Bar Light guided vessels through the shallow waters of Galveston Bay’s upper reaches. One of the earliest light stations on the Texas coast, it served mariners navigating the treacherous sandbars near the mouth of the San Jacinto River. The lighthouse was decommissioned and is no longer active.

The site is not open to the public, and visitors cannot climb the tower. However, the area around Morgan’s Point offers excellent exterior photography, particularly during golden hour when the warm light reflects off the bay. Nearby attractions include the San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site, the Battleship Texas, and the Houston Ship Channel.
