Built in 1900, the Redfish Bar Cut Light once guided vessels through the treacherous shallow waters of Galveston Bay. This screwpile-style lighthouse stood watch over one of the Gulf Coast’s busiest shipping channels during an era when Galveston was a major port city. The light was deactivated and is no longer an active aid to navigation.

The lighthouse is not open to the public and cannot be climbed, as it sits offshore and is inaccessible by foot. It can be viewed and photographed from boat tours in Galveston Bay, with golden hour providing the best light against the water backdrop.

Nearby attractions include the Galveston Historic Pleasure Pier, Moody Gardens, and the 1877 Tall Ship Elissa at the Texas Seaport Museum.
