Standing on the southern tip of Daufuskie Island, South Carolina, this historic lighthouse was built in 1883 to guide vessels through the treacherous Bloody Point shoals in Calibogue Sound. The rear range light worked in tandem with this front light to help mariners navigate the channel safely. Named for a bloody conflict between English settlers and the Yemassee people, the site carries deep historical weight. The lighthouse is no longer active and is not open to the public, though it can be viewed from nearby paths. Golden hour offers the best photography light against the marsh backdrop.
