Perched on the Marin Headlands at the northern entrance to the Golden Gate, Lime Point Light has guided mariners through San Francisco Bay since 1900. This modest fog signal station and light sits directly beneath the Golden Gate Bridge’s north anchorage, making it one of the most uniquely positioned lighthouses on the West Coast. Still an active aid to navigation, the light is not open to the public, though it can be viewed from the nearby Coastal Trail and Fort Baker. Golden hour and foggy mornings offer the best photography, with the bridge towering dramatically above. Nearby attractions include the Bay Discovery Museum, Cavallo Point lodge, and Kirby Cove beach.
