Point Bonita Light stands at the dramatic entrance to San Francisco Bay, guiding mariners since 1855. Originally positioned higher on the headland, the lighthouse was relocated to its current cliff-edge perch in 1877 for better visibility through fog. It remains one of the last staffed lighthouses on the West Coast and is still an active aid to navigation.

While the lighthouse itself is not open to public entry, visitors can reach it via a stunning half-mile trail that crosses a hand-railed suspension bridge carved into the Marin Headlands cliffs. Golden hour and foggy mornings offer the most dramatic photography. Nearby, explore Battery Mendell, the Marine Mammal Center, and sweeping views of the Golden Gate Bridge.
