Southampton Shoal Light
San Francisco Bay · California
Standing in the waters of San Francisco Bay since 1905, Southampton Shoal Light guided mariners navigating the treacherous shoals between Angel Island and the Richmond shoreline. This charming Victorian-style lighthouse served faithfully until it was deactivated and eventually relocated to its current display site at the Tinsley Island facility of the St. Francis Yacht Club.
The lighthouse is not open to the public and cannot be climbed, but it remains a beloved piece of Bay Area maritime heritage. Best photographed during golden hour with the bay as backdrop. Nearby attractions include Angel Island State Park, the Richmond waterfront, and the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, all offering rich nautical history to explore.
