Standing tall along the shores of Lake Huron in Presque Isle Township, Michigan, the “New” Presque Isle Lighthouse was built in 1871 to replace the nearby 1840 original. Its towering height made it one of the tallest lighthouse towers on the Great Lakes, greatly improving visibility for vessels navigating the rocky coastline.

The lighthouse remains an active navigational aid and is not open to public climbing. Its striking white tower and attached keeper’s dwelling make it a favorite photography subject, particularly during golden hour and dramatic autumn sunsets over Lake Huron.
