Standing since 1840, the Old Presque Isle Lighthouse is one of the oldest surviving lighthouses on the Great Lakes. Located in Presque Isle Township, Michigan, this historic tower guided mariners along Lake Huron’s rocky coastline for three decades before being replaced by the nearby New Presque Isle Lighthouse in 1871.

The lighthouse is not open to the public for climbing, though the grounds and exterior make for rewarding visits. Golden hour provides the best photography, with warm light illuminating the white tower against Lake Huron’s blue waters.
