Standing in the waters of Lake Borgne, Louisiana, the West Rigolets Light was built in 1854 to guide vessels navigating the narrow Rigolets strait connecting Lake Borgne to Lake Pontchartrain. This screw-pile lighthouse served as a critical navigation aid along the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway for over a century before being deactivated.
