Olcott Light
Lake Ontario · New York
Standing on the shores of Lake Ontario in Olcott, New York, Olcott Light has marked this quiet harbor community since 1873. The modest tower guided fishing vessels and lake traffic through the treacherous waters off Niagara County for decades before being deactivated. Though no longer an active navigational aid, the lighthouse remains a picturesque landmark along the lakefront.
The lighthouse is not open to the public and cannot be climbed, but it photographs beautifully from the nearby pier and beach areas. Golden hour on summer evenings offers the best light, with dramatic Lake Ontario sunsets as a backdrop.
While visiting, explore Krull Park’s lakeside trails, Olcott Beach, and the charming seasonal carnival area along the waterfront.
