Nakalele Point Light stands on the northernmost tip of Maui, marking the rugged volcanic coastline of Nakalele Point since 1910. Originally built to guide ships through the treacherous waters between Maui and Molokai, the automated beacon remains active today under U.S. Coast Guard operation. The compact concrete tower is notable for its dramatic setting atop sheer sea cliffs surrounded by wind-sculpted lava formations. The lighthouse grounds are not open to the public, and visitors cannot climb the tower. However, the surrounding coastal trail offers excellent vantage points. Golden hour and early morning provide the best photography light against the rugged backdrop. Nearby, the famous Nakalele Blowhole and the Ohe’o Gulch pools draw hikers and sightseers.
