Pauwela Point Light

Pauwela Point Light

Hawaii

Perched on Maui’s rugged north shore near the small community of Pauwela, this modest lighthouse has guided mariners along Hawaii’s windswept coastline for decades. The light station marks a prominent rocky headland where powerful Pacific swells crash against volcanic cliffs, creating a dramatic coastal landscape.

Now deactivated, Pauwela Point Light stands as a quiet sentinel above the sea. The tower is not open to the public, and access to the surrounding area is limited. Early morning and late afternoon offer the best photography light, when golden hues illuminate the cliffs and crashing surf.

Nearby, visitors can explore the charming town of Haiku, the famous Road to Hana, and world-renowned windsurfing beaches at Hookipa Beach Park.
