Palaoa Point Light
Hawaii
Perched on the southern tip of Lanai, Palaoa Point Light has guided mariners through Hawaiian waters since 1934. This active aid to navigation marks the rocky coastline where Kalohi Channel meets the open Pacific. The modest concrete tower stands as one of Hawaii’s lesser-known lighthouses, offering a glimpse into the island’s maritime heritage during an era of expanded coastal safety infrastructure.
The lighthouse is not open to the public and cannot be climbed, but photographers can capture striking shots from nearby vantage points — golden hour and sunset provide the most dramatic lighting against the ocean backdrop.
Nearby, visitors can explore Hulopoe Bay’s pristine beach, world-class snorkeling, and the iconic Sweetheart Rock (Puu Pehe).
