Hawea Point Light

Perched on the rugged lava rock coastline of Kapalua, Maui, Hawea Point Light marks the northern tip of one of Hawaii’s most scenic headlands. Originally established to guide vessels navigating the Pailolo Channel between Maui and Molokai, this modest beacon served as a critical navigational aid along the island’s northwest shore. Though no longer active and closed to the public, the light remains a striking landmark against the dramatic Pacific backdrop. Photographers will find golden hour particularly rewarding, when warm light illuminates the rocky point with Molokai silhouetted on the horizon. Nearby, visitors can explore the Kapalua Coastal Trail, Dragon’s Teeth lava formations, and the sheltered waters of Kapalua Bay.
