Mayo Beach Light

Mayo Beach Light

Mayo Beach · Massachusetts

Wellfleet, Massachusetts

This charming lighthouse has guided mariners along Cape Cod’s outer shore since 1881. Originally located on nearby Mayo Beach, the wooden tower was moved to its current private property location in 1922 after erosion threatened its foundation. The compact structure stands as one of the few remaining wooden lighthouses in Massachusetts.

Visitor Information: The lighthouse remains active but is located on private property and closed to public access. Climbing is not permitted.

Photography Tips: The best views come from nearby public beaches and roads. Golden hour during summer months offers warm lighting against the weathered wooden exterior.

Nearby Attractions: Wellfleet Harbor, Marconi Beach, Cape Cod National Seashore, and the town’s renowned oyster beds and galleries.
