Standing on Horse Island in Sackets Harbor, Hounsfield, New York, this historic limestone lighthouse was built in 1831 to guide vessels through the eastern end of Lake Ontario. One of the oldest surviving lighthouses on the Great Lakes, it served mariners for decades before being deactivated. The rugged stone tower remains a striking relic of early 19th-century maritime infrastructure.

The lighthouse is not open to the public and cannot be climbed, though it’s visible from the shoreline and by boat.
