Standing sentinel in Narragansett Bay since 1826, Dutch Island Light guided mariners through Rhode Island’s busy waters for over a century. This historic square brick tower, now decommissioned, occupies a small island off Jamestown’s western shore. The lighthouse is notable for its distinctive architecture and its role in the island’s military history—Dutch Island once housed Fort Greble during the Civil War era.

The lighthouse is not open to the public and cannot be climbed, as the island is accessible only by private boat. Photography is best at golden hour from Jamestown’s Fort Getty Recreation Area, which offers clear bay views.
