Rising from the eastern tip of Belle Isle in Detroit, Michigan, this striking marble lighthouse was built in 1930 as a memorial to William Livingstone, a prominent Great Lakes shipping magnate. Unlike traditional lighthouses, it features an Art Deco design carved from Georgian marble, making it one of the most architecturally unique lights on the Great Lakes. The tower remains an active navigational aid on the Detroit River but is not open to public climbing. Golden hour and sunset provide the best photography, with the Canadian shoreline as a dramatic backdrop.
