Standing along the Detroit River in Ecorse, Michigan, this historic lighthouse was built in 1895 to guide vessels through one of the Great Lakes’ busiest shipping corridors. The modest tower served as a critical navigational aid during the height of industrial river traffic. Now deactivated, the light is no longer in operation and is not open to the public, so visitors cannot climb the tower. It remains a quiet piece of Michigan’s maritime heritage worth viewing from the exterior.
