Warrior Rock Light

Warrior Rock Light

Columbia River · Oregon

Standing on the northern tip of Sauvie Island, Oregon, Warrior Rock Light has guided Columbia River mariners since 1877. This modest concrete tower replaced earlier wooden structures and remains an active navigational aid maintained by the Coast Guard. Though not open to the public for climbing, the lighthouse is accessible via a scenic 3-mile hiking trail through Warrior Rock Natural Area, making the journey itself part of the experience. The trail winds through old-growth cottonwoods and beaches strewn with driftwood. Golden hour and misty autumn mornings offer the best photography conditions, with dramatic river views and passing ships. Nearby, Sauvie Island draws visitors with U-pick farms, wildlife viewing at the Sauvie Island Wildlife Area, and quiet sandy beaches.
