Orient Long Beach Bar Light
Long Island Sound · New York
Standing at the entrance to Orient Harbor in Orient, New York, this historic lighthouse was built in 1871 to guide mariners through the treacherous waters of Long Island Sound. Known locally as the “Coffee Pot” for its distinctive squat, cylindrical shape, the cast-iron sparkplug-style tower is one of the region’s most charming navigational landmarks. No longer an active aid to navigation, the lighthouse is not open to the public and can only be viewed from the water or shoreline. Golden hour provides the best photography, with warm light reflecting off the harbor. Nearby, visitors can explore Orient Beach State Park, the Oysterponds Historical Society, and the scenic farmlands of the North Fork.
