Conimicut Shoal Light

Conimicut Shoal Light

Narragansett Bay · Rhode Island

Rising from the waters of Narragansett Bay near Warwick, Rhode Island, Conimicut Shoal Light has guided mariners since 1868. This distinctive sparkplug-style lighthouse marks the dangerous shoal at the confluence of the Providence and Seekonk Rivers, protecting vessels navigating toward Providence Harbor.

The cast-iron caisson structure remains an active aid to navigation, its automated light continuing over 150 years of service. The lighthouse is not open to the public and cannot be climbed, but photographers capture stunning images from Conimicut Point Park, especially during golden hour or when winter ice surrounds its base.

Nearby attractions include Goddard Memorial State Park, historic Pawtuxet Village, and the charming waterfront of East Greenwich.
