Cape May Light

Standing at Cape May Point, New Jersey, this historic lighthouse was first built in 1823, making it one of the oldest light stations on the Atlantic coast. The current tower, rising above the southern tip of New Jersey, has guided mariners through the busy Delaware Bay shipping lanes for generations. The lighthouse is no longer active and is not open to the public, so visitors cannot climb the tower. It remains a striking landmark best photographed during golden hour, when warm light plays against the tower and surrounding coastline. Nearby, visitors can explore Cape May Point State Park, the pristine beaches of the Jersey Cape, and the charming Victorian streets of downtown Cape May.
