Baltimore Harbor Light
Chesapeake Bay · Maryland
Standing sentinel in the Chesapeake Bay since 1908, Baltimore Harbor Light is a caisson-style lighthouse marking the approach to Baltimore’s busy port. Its distinctive white cylindrical tower rises from a concrete foundation anchored directly in the water, making it one of Maryland’s most photogenic offshore lights. The lighthouse remains an active navigational aid maintained by the Coast Guard but is not open to the public — it can only be viewed from the water. Golden hour boat tours at sunset offer the best photography opportunities, with the light glowing against the bay. Nearby, visitors can explore Fort McHenry, the Inner Harbor, and the Historic Ships collection in Baltimore’s waterfront district.
