Standing at the entrance to Delaware Bay near Lewes, Delaware, this historic lighthouse was built in 1838 to guide vessels along the Delaware Breakwater. It served as a range front light, helping mariners navigate one of the East Coast’s most important harbors of refuge. The light was eventually deactivated and is no longer an active aid to navigation.
