Standing on the shores of Staten Island since 1903, Fort Wadsworth Light guided vessels through the Narrows — one of America’s busiest waterways — into New York Harbor. The small lighthouse served alongside the historic Fort Wadsworth military installation, which defended the harbor entrance for over two centuries. Now decommissioned, the light is no longer active and is not open to the public, so visitors cannot climb the tower. The best photography opportunities come during golden hour, when the light catches the nearby Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge as a dramatic backdrop.
