Ida Lewis Rock Light

Lime Rock · Rhode Island

Perched on Lime Rock in Newport Harbor, Ida Lewis Rock Light has guided mariners since 1854. The lighthouse earned its name from Idawalley Zorada Lewis, America’s most celebrated lighthouse keeper, who served here for 54 years and performed at least 18 documented rescues, becoming a national heroine in the Victorian era.

The compact stone structure features a distinctive square tower with a lantern room. Now decommissioned and home to the Ida Lewis Yacht Club, the lighthouse is not open to public tours or climbing.
