Pumpkin Island Light
Pumpkin Island · Maine
Perched on a small island off Deer Isle, Maine, Pumpkin Island Light has guided mariners through Eggemoggin Reach since 1854. This charming brick tower, standing just 28 feet tall, was decommissioned in 1934 and converted to a private residence. The lighthouse exemplifies classic New England coastal architecture with its attached keeper’s house.
While the lighthouse is privately owned and not open to visitors, kayakers and boaters enjoy photographing it from the water. Golden hour provides ideal lighting, with summer mornings offering calm seas and soft illumination.
Nearby, explore the fishing villages of Stonington and Deer Isle, browse local galleries, or venture to Acadia National Park, just 30 minutes away by car and ferry.
