Standing sentinel on Islesboro Island since 1874, Grindel Point Light guided mariners through Penobscot Bay for over a century before being deactivated. The square wooden tower, painted classic white, rises from the keeper’s house in a distinctive integrated design typical of Maine’s smaller coastal lights.

While the lighthouse is not open to the public and climbing is not permitted, visitors can view the structure from the surrounding Grindle Point Sailor’s Memorial Museum grounds. The location offers excellent photography opportunities, particularly at golden hour when warm light illuminates the tower against Penobscot Bay.
