Perched atop Monhegan Island’s highest point, this historic lighthouse has guided mariners since 1824, making it one of Maine’s oldest light stations. The granite tower, automated in 1959, continues its active duty today, its beacon visible for miles across the Gulf of Maine.

While the tower itself is closed to climbing, the grounds offer spectacular panoramic views of the rugged coastline. The adjacent keeper’s house now serves as the Monhegan Museum, showcasing island history and art.
