Perched on a rocky ledge at the entrance to Boothbay Harbor, Ram Island Light has guided mariners since 1883. This charming granite tower, standing 35 feet tall, replaced an earlier fog signal station and remains an active navigational aid maintained by the Coast Guard.
The lighthouse is notable for its picturesque setting and classic New England character, making it a favorite subject for photographers. While the island is privately owned and not open to public tours, visitors can capture stunning views from boat excursions departing Boothbay Harbor.
Best photography: Golden hour during summer months or from harbor cruises.
