Marshall Point Light

Marshall Point Light

Maine

Perched on a rocky promontory in Port Clyde, Maine, Marshall Point Light has guided mariners since 1832. This picturesque lighthouse gained fame as the easternmost point Forrest Gump reached during his cross-country run in the beloved 1994 film. The distinctive white tower connects to shore via a wooden walkway that has become one of Maine’s most photographed scenes.

While the tower itself is not open to climbing, visitors can explore the grounds and the free Marshall Point Lighthouse Museum housed in the former keeper’s dwelling. Golden hour and foggy mornings offer the best photography conditions. Nearby, the charming fishing village of Port Clyde provides fresh lobster and serves as the departure point for Monhegan Island ferries.
