Standing guard over Milwaukee’s Lake Michigan shoreline since 1855, North Point Light is one of Wisconsin’s most photographed historic landmarks. The lighthouse guided vessels safely into Milwaukee’s harbor during the city’s bustling shipping era. Though no longer an active navigational aid, the tower remains a striking architectural presence in Lake Park, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted.

The lighthouse is not open to the public for climbing, but its exterior and surrounding parkland offer excellent viewing. Golden hour provides the best photography, with warm light against the lake backdrop. Nearby, visitors can explore Lake Park’s scenic bluffs, the historic North Point Water Tower, and Bradford Beach — all within easy walking distance.
