Built in 1881, the Dunlap Reef Range Lights guided ships through the treacherous waters of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. This pair of range lights worked in tandem — when mariners aligned the front and rear lights, they knew they were safely in the channel. Now decommissioned, the lights stand as quiet reminders of Door County’s rich maritime heritage.

The lights are not open to the public for climbing, but photographers can capture striking images from the shoreline, especially during golden hour or with dramatic winter ice formations as a backdrop. Late spring through early fall offers the best conditions.
