Baileys Harbor Range Rear Light
Lake Michigan · Wisconsin
Built in 1870, this historic rear range light guided mariners safely into Baileys Harbor along Door County’s Lake Michigan shore. Paired with its front range light, the two worked in tandem — when aligned, captains knew they were on course. The birdcage-style lantern atop the wooden tower makes it architecturally distinctive among Wisconsin’s lighthouses. Now deactivated, the light is not open to the public, but visitors can view and photograph it from the surrounding area. Golden hour light in early autumn offers the best photography conditions, when fall foliage frames the tower beautifully. Nearby, explore The Ridges Sanctuary, Cana Island Lighthouse, and the charming shops and restaurants of downtown Baileys Harbor.
