Chambers Island Light
Chambers Island · Wisconsin
Chambers Island Light stands on the western shore of Chambers Island in Door County, near Gibraltar, Wisconsin. Built in 1868, this octagonal yellow-brick lighthouse guided ships through the treacherous Green Bay waters for over a century. The light was deactivated and replaced by an automated steel tower nearby. The original keeper’s dwelling and tower remain intact, maintained by the Town of Gibraltar. The lighthouse is not open to the public, though the island is accessible by private boat. Photographers will find the best light during golden hour on summer evenings, with the bay as a backdrop. Nearby, explore Peninsula State Park, the charming village of Fish Creek, and Door County’s renowned cherry orchards.
