Mama Juda Range Front Light
Detroit River · Michigan
Standing on tiny Mamajuda Island in the Detroit River, Michigan, the Mama Juda Range Front Light served as a critical navigational aid guiding vessels through the busy shipping channel. Paired with a rear range light, the structure helped mariners maintain safe passage along one of the Great Lakes’ most trafficked waterways. The lighthouse is no longer active and is not open to the public, accessible only by boat. Its isolated island setting makes it a compelling subject for photographers, with golden hour light off the water providing the best shots. Nearby, visitors can explore the historic lighthouses and maritime heritage sites along the Detroit River, including Wyandotte and Gibraltar.
