Fourteen Foot Shoal Light stands in the waters of Lake Huron near Cheboygan, Michigan, marking a dangerous shallow reef that threatened Great Lakes shipping. Built in 1930, this art deco–style steel and concrete crib lighthouse replaced an earlier lightship station. Its sturdy, utilitarian design reflects the era’s shift toward automated, low-maintenance navigational aids. The light remains active today, guiding vessels through the Straits of Mackinac region.

The lighthouse is not open to the public, but boaters and charter services from Cheboygan offer excellent viewing opportunities.
