Tucked along the southern shore of Mullett Lake in Cheboygan County, Aloha State Park offers 172 acres of northern Michigan lakefront beauty. The park’s real draw is its position on one of the state’s largest inland lakes — Mullett Lake stretches over 17,000 acres and connects to the renowned Inland Waterway, a 38-mile chain of rivers and lakes that links Cheboygan to Conway.

The campground is the heart of the park, with nearly 300 sites spread across a mix of shaded and open areas, many within walking distance of the waterfront. Sites accommodate both tent and RV campers, and the location makes it a popular base for boaters exploring the Inland Waterway by kayak, canoe, or motorboat. A public boat launch provides direct access to Mullett Lake.

Fishing is a major attraction here. Mullett Lake is known for walleye, perch, smallmouth bass, and northern pike, with some of the best walleye fishing in the Lower Peninsula. In winter, the lake draws ice anglers chasing the same species from shanties dotting the frozen surface.

Beyond the water, the park offers a sandy swimming beach, picnic areas, and a playground. The surrounding Cheboygan County countryside provides access to trails, nearby Cheboygan State Park, and the historic inland waterway locks.

Visit between late June and early September for warm-water swimming and peak fishing. Fall brings spectacular color along the lakeshore with far fewer crowds. This is a park built around its lake — come prepared to get on the water.
