Tucked into a narrow valley in Mifflin County, Reeds Gap State Park is one of Pennsylvania’s quieter gems — a compact 220-acre retreat where Honey Creek carves through the ridges of the Appalachian Mountains. Established in 1938 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the park retains much of its original rustic character, with stone structures and wooded trails that feel like a step back in time.

What makes Reeds Gap special is its intimacy. Unlike Pennsylvania’s sprawling state parks, everything here is within easy reach. A short network of trails winds through hemlock groves and hardwood forests, connecting to the larger Mid State Trail for hikers looking for a longer challenge.
