Two Harbors Light

Perched on the rocky shores of Agate Bay, Two Harbors Light has guided vessels along Lake Superior’s north shore since 1892. One of Minnesota’s oldest operating lighthouses, it remains an active navigational aid managed by the Lake County Historical Society. The square brick tower and attached keeper’s dwelling showcase classic late-19th-century lighthouse architecture, a style increasingly rare on the Great Lakes.

The lighthouse is not open to public climbing, but the grounds and surrounding Lighthouse Point offer excellent exterior views. Golden hour before sunset provides the best photography, with the tower silhouetted against Lake Superior. Nearby, visitors can explore the Edna G. tugboat, Agate Bay breakwater, and the scenic stretch of Highway 61.
