Standing at the confluence of the East River and Long Island Sound, Throgs Neck Light has guided mariners through New York City’s busy waterways since 1826. Located in the Bronx, this historic beacon served as a critical navigational aid for vessels entering the treacherous strait connecting the Sound to New York Harbor.

Now decommissioned, the lighthouse is notable as one of the few surviving pre-Civil War light stations in New York City.
