Sakonnet Light stands sentinel at the entrance to the Sakonnet River in Little Compton, Rhode Island. Built in 1884, this cast-iron caisson lighthouse guided mariners through treacherous waters for over a century before being deactivated. The distinctive white spark-plug style tower rises from a concrete foundation set directly in the water, making it one of New England’s most photogenic lighthouses.

The lighthouse is not open to the public and cannot be climbed, as it sits offshore with no public access. Best photography occurs during golden hour from Sakonnet Point, where the lighthouse creates stunning silhouettes against sunrise skies.
