Molasses Reef Light

Molasses Reef Light

Molasses Reef · Florida

Rising from the shallow waters off Key Largo, Molasses Reef Light has guided mariners through the treacherous Florida Reef since 1921. This skeletal steel tower marks one of the most popular dive sites in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, where vibrant coral formations and abundant marine life draw snorkelers and divers year-round.

The lighthouse remains an active aid to navigation and is not open to public climbing. However, boat tours from Key Largo offer excellent views. Early morning provides the best photography conditions, with warm light against the open Atlantic backdrop.

Nearby, John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park and the famous Christ of the Abyss underwater statue are must-visit attractions.
