Lake St. Clair Light stands at the mouth of the St. Clair River near Harsens Island, Michigan. Built in 1941, this active aid to navigation replaced earlier lightships that once guided freighters through the busy shipping channel connecting Lakes Huron and Erie. The art deco–style concrete tower rises from a submerged crib foundation, making it accessible only by boat. The lighthouse is not open to the public and cannot be climbed, but it remains a striking subject for photographers — golden hour and passing freighter traffic make for dramatic shots, especially from summer boat tours.
