Heceta Head Light

Perched on a dramatic 205-foot cliff near Florence, Oregon, Heceta Head Light has guided mariners along the Pacific coast since 1894. Named after Spanish explorer Bruno de Heceta, the lighthouse remains an active aid to navigation and is widely considered one of the most photographed lighthouses in the United States.

The tower is not open to public climbing, but visitors can hike the half-mile trail from the parking area to the lighthouse grounds for sweeping ocean views. The adjacent keeper’s house operates as a bed-and-breakfast.

Golden hour and sunset offer the best photography conditions, especially in fall when fog adds atmosphere. Nearby, explore Sea Lion Caves and the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area.
