Perched dramatically atop the Mohegan Bluffs, Block Island Southeast Light has stood sentinel since 1875. This Victorian Gothic brick lighthouse, featuring distinctive octagonal tower and attached keeper’s house, earned National Historic Landmark status in 1997. Remarkably, the entire structure was moved 300 feet inland in 1993 to save it from eroding cliffs.

The lighthouse is no longer active and not open to public climbing. However, visitors can explore the surrounding grounds and museum exhibits seasonally.

For photography, golden hour captures the lighthouse beautifully against the dramatic 200-foot clay bluffs. Late afternoon light is particularly stunning.
